What about create a gorgeous 3D Christmas tree made of shortbread cookies? With our very simple recipe, you will impress your Christmas dinner guests!
For this 3D Christmas Tree, you will need:
Short crust pastry:
250g flour
90g organic confectioner’s sugar LA PATELIERE
10g almond powder LA PATELIERE
100g butter
1 egg
Vanilla powder LA PATELIERE
Frosting: see our DIY coloured frosting recipe.
Golden and silver sugar pearls LA PATELIERE
Prepare the short crust pastry:
In a bowl, mix together flour, confectioner’s sugar, vanilla and almond powder. Add butter cut in small cubes and crumble with your fingers until you get a sandy mixture. Add the egg and mix until you get a homogenous dough ball. Cover it with a plastic wrap and put in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Prepare the Christmas tree:
Preheat oven to 190°C.
Spread the pastry dough over a floured work surface. Cut out stars with pastry cutters: one big star, then a smaller star, another even smaller star, etc. Make sure to have an even thickness to all your stars.
Bake for around 10 minutes and let it cool.
Once the biscuits have cooled, overlap them one piled on top of the other, from the biggest to the smallest, fixing them with frosting. Decorate your 3D Christmas Tree with frosting and sugar pearls.
